AVACGIS Lecture Series
This panel brings together an interdisciplinary group of scholars to discuss the afterlife of media and the Arab Uprisings. It interrogates the images, political dynamics, and cultural forms that have emerged in the years since Bouazizi, Tahrir, and Asad became familiar names beyond the Middle East.
This event will feature an introduction from Dr. Larry Butler, Islamic Art historian, and include a presentation and demonstration of Arabic Thuluth script by calligrapher Khalid Casado. Co-sponsored with the Department of History & Art History and with Scripts N' Scribes; a local arts organization dedicated to the promotion of Arabic calligraphy and ornamentation.
