"An Evening with Karagoz and Hacivat" is a family oriented event which will include two traditional Turkish shadow puppet performances as well as a slide assisted talk detailing the history and development of Turkish shadow puppet theater and its relationship to other forms of shadow theater around the globe, both past and present. Following the presentation, a family workshop will be held in which children and adults will be encouraged to construct their own Karagoz and Hacivat shadow puppets to take home, and learn how to make a small table top theater for home use. All supplies will be provided, and performances will be in English. Traditional Turkish sweets and tea will also be served for all to enjoy.
