For Editor of Islamic Studies Center Website
Welcome to CHSSWeb2! We have a help website: chssweb2.gmu.edu. If you are having problems with something and can't find what you need, please contact us at chssweb@gmu.edu. Please feel free to provide us with feedback on the help site and suggestions for additions or changes.
Changes
- Pages and sections are ordered to follow the main navigation. First, the home page, then For-Editor, then Contact, followed by the main links from the left navigation top to bottom. Don't move any of the main pages into or out of a section, as that will change the URL and the link from the main left hand navigation will break.
- New best practices in web advise editors not to embed hyper links in the text itself, but to put the links relevant to a page in resource groups at the end of the page. We redid that for many of the current English pages. This is current best web practice because it makes keeping links updated more easily. You can put the same resource links on multiple pages without having to update them in more than one place.
- Courses page: took out listing of Regular Offerings and added this as a resource group from the Islamic Studies Program website. Coordinate anything you do vis a vis courses with that site so they stay in sych.
Suggestions
- On page Supporting the Center, I took out the name Amy Lambrecht because she has left. Talk to the current director of development to see what she would suggest listing here.
- General best practice: Don't add links in the text of pages. Keep the pages short and add the links in resource groups at the end of the page. We'll explain in the Work Session.
- On Research page, take out the links in the text and make a resource group. Would be a good exercise to learn about this feature. Ask us in Work Session or talk to chssweb2@gmu.edu.
