Third Annual Book Review Colloquium on Islamic & Middle Eastern Studies

Co-sponsored with Fall for the Book Festival

Friday, October 11, 2019 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM EDT
Merten Hall, 1203

The Third Annual Book Review Colloquium invites graduate students from national institutions to review the most recent publications in the broader field of Islamic Studies. At the Colloquium, graduate students have the opportunity to present their book reviews in pre-organized panels and discuss their reviews with leading scholars in the field. In selecting their books, reviewers are expected to focus on a single monograph and to demonstrate engagement with the existing literature, using references to at least two books on a similar theme. The reviewers are encouraged to construct their works with particular attention to the context, content and critique of the selected book.

The Colliquium anticipates greater outreach to the event by drawing from an audience already in attendance at the Fall for the Book Festival. The Colloquium aims to foster a lasting conversation between academic and lay readership. Sponsored by George Mason University's Fall for the Book Festival, www.fftb.org
