The Study Quran released on Nov. 17

SQReleased on November 17 by Harper Collins, The Study Quran is the culmination of an 8-year collaboration which features a new translation of the Quran and a nearly 2000-page continuous commentary on the text. Professor Maria Dakake, Co-Director of the Ali Vural Ak Center for Global Islamic Studies and Chair of the Department of Religious Studies, is one of the head researchers who worked alongside other distinguished scholars of Islamic Studies on this comprehensive resource. Under the guidance of Editor-in-Chief Seyyed Hossein Nasr, Prof. Dakake co-edited this unique volume with Caner Dagli and Joseph Lumbard, and Muhammad Rustom served as Assistant Editor.

Drawing upon a wide range of Muslim commentaries on the Quran, including Sunni and Shi'i commentaries, as well as seminal works in legal, theological, and mystical interpretation, The Study Quran commentary addresses the grammar of difficult passages, legal and ritual teachings, ethics, theology, and sacred history. It also provides extensive cross-referencing of passages within the Quranic text, as well with Biblical passages that address similar themes. The Study Quran also includes 15 companion essays by prominent scholars, as well as multiple maps and indices.
