Arsalan Iftikhar Joins the Ali Vural Ak Center to Launch New Website

Leading media commentator, author, and human rights attorney Arsalan Iftikhar has joined the Ali Vural Ak Center as a Senior Fellow to spearhead the development of the center’s newest web project, Islamium.

The website will feature analysis and news items from a diverse array of sources to present readers with a balanced, insightful view on international Muslim social and political affairs.

Iftikhar manages a number of websites, most famously TheMuslimGuy.com and CrescentPost.com, and has appeared on numerous major media outlets internationally, including BBC World News for The Doha Debates, CNN, ABC World News Tonight, and MSNBC to name a few. His columns have been featured in a number of major publications including The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Economist, TIME Magazine, and The Los Angeles Times among dozens of others.

He is a regular contributing writer for CNN.com and the Middle East edition of Esquire, as well as a regular weekly commentator for National Public Radio. In addition, he is also a Contributing Editor for Islamica, an international contemporary affairs magazine based in Los Angeles.

In May 2011, his Twitter account (@TheMuslimGuy) was named one of the Top 12 Muslim Twitter accounts by the Huffington Post, and later that year he published his first book, Islamic Pacifism: Global Muslims in the Post-Osama Era.
