Scholars from a wide range of disciplines gathered to discuss the relationship between South Asia as it is presently studied and the growing field of global Islamic studies. Workshop participants examined three major themes; post-1947 political history, global and local actors of Islam and nationalism, religion, secularism, and cultural expression.
